Building An Online Community for Distance Learning

I've been teaching online since last March. I am currently the Comprehensive Distance Teacher for my school district for grades 4th-6th grade. I'm always looking for resources that will help me grow in learning. I found this article that I wanted to share. As many of you are still teaching online, this resource might be perfect for you. Also it can be applicable in the classroom as well.

I personally believe building a community in a classroom is extremely important. When there is a strong community, students feel welcomed. They also feel a sense of belonging. Students work together for a common good.

Some of the ways I have worked to create a strong community within my classroom are:
  •  having my students create Mesa Verde together as a class. Each student worked on this paper mache project, painted the cliff and then created the homes inside of the cliff. They learned about Mesa Verde prior to creating this activity.

  • having my students create a 3 dimensional town....

Here is the website I just had to share with you! I hope these tools will be helpful for you as they are for me. Please click the link below and enjoy this incredible site!
